Questions

01Is Windows on every provider?

No, only on providers that offer Windows images. Linux is available on all of them.

02How do I connect to a Windows server?

With Remote Desktop (RDP). Windows includes Remote Desktop Connection, and free apps exist for Mac and mobile.

03How much RAM does Windows need?

Windows uses more resources than Linux; for a smooth session, think of a mid-size plan or larger.

04Is it suitable for MetaTrader?

Yes. A Windows server is a common home for expert advisors and trading bots that must stay on.

05What is Windows Server used for?

Hosting .NET and IIS applications, SQL Server, remote desktops and any software that runs only on Windows.

What is a Windows VPS?

A Windows VPS is a cloud server with Windows Server installed, which you operate remotely like an ordinary computer. The desktop, folders and programs are what you know from Windows, except the machine sits in a data centre, runs without a break, has a fixed IP and the data centre's fast connection behind it.

Windows is available only on providers that offer Windows images; Linux is on every provider. CloudSnap sells Windows servers by the hour like the rest: build one, use it and delete it whenever you like.

How it differs from a Linux server

Windows carries a full graphical interface and so asks for more RAM and disk. In return, any software written only for Windows runs on it without trouble. If your software runs on both systems and you want the lightest option, a Linux server is cheaper and lighter.

What a Windows server is good for

Wherever Windows software has to stay on around the clock, a Windows server is a fitting home.

Trading and trading bots

MetaTrader, expert advisors and Windows trading tools usually need to run without interruption. A Windows server in a data centre, free of power cuts and your home connection, hosts them well, and latency to the broker drops when you choose a location close to it.

.NET applications and IIS

ASP.NET sites and services run on Windows Server with IIS. SQL Server and Microsoft tooling are built for this environment as well.

Remote desktop

A Windows desktop you open from anywhere: for teamwork, for running heavy software without loading your laptop, or for a separate, clean environment.

Testing and development

Try your software on Windows Server, test different versions, and delete the server when the work is done so the cost stops.

Connecting over RDP

You connect to a Windows server over RDP. Windows ships with Remote Desktop Connection, and Microsoft offers free apps for Mac, Android and iPhone. The IP and sign-in details appear in the Telegram bot or the web panel once the server is built.

Power on, off, restart and reinstall happen from the same bot and panel. If you lose access to Windows, restart the server and connect again.

Security notes

Set a strong password and keep it somewhere safe. Keep Windows updated and leave the built-in antivirus and firewall on. If RDP does not need to be open to everyone, limit access to specific IPs.

RAM, disk and the right plan

Windows takes more resources than Linux. For a smooth desktop and a few light programs, a mid-size plan fits; for SQL Server or several expert advisors at once, go larger. Windows plans start at sizes where the system runs comfortably.

See plan prices on the pricing page. If your job is tunnels and routing, a MikroTik server is the lighter choice.

Why a Windows server from CloudSnap

Because building one is simple: pick a location and plan, the server is ready in minutes and the hourly cost comes from your wallet. The Telegram bot and the web panel are both there, and support is answered by a person. Build your server and open your Windows from anywhere.
